Frequently asked questions.

.

1. Where are you located?

I’m based in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY, serving Westchester County and the surrounding areas, including the Hudson Valley and New York City.

2. What types of projects do you specialize in?

I focus on residential architecture, including new construction, home additions, historic renovations, and interior remodels. I also take on select commercial, institutional and community projects.

3. Do you work on historic homes?

Yes — Hastings and the surrounding towns have many historic properties, and I have experience with restoration and renovation projects that respect the original character while bringing homes up to modern standards.

4. Can you help with planning studies, budgeting and permits?

Absolutely. One of the unique aspects of working across various villages, towns, and counties is that each municipality has its own zoning ordinance and supplemental code. I am therefore highly accustomed to quickly researching and understanding different regulations to provide accurate and comprehensive guidance on permitting processes. With several completed projects, I can also efficiently prepare cost estimates to help determine budgets and assess project feasibility - refer to Feasibility Studies.

5. Do you handle both design and construction?

I focus on architectural design and project oversight. While I don’t serve as the general contractor, I collaborate closely with trusted builders, engineers, and consultants to ensure that the design is executed as planned.

6. How long does the design process take?

The timeline depends on the scope and complexity of the project. A smaller renovation may take a few weeks of design work, while a new home design could take a few months, not including permitting and the actual construction phase.

7. What’s your design philosophy?

Every project has its own story, aspirations, and demands. As a designer, I am not bound to a single style or solution; instead, I let each challenge guide me toward a calibrated response that fulfills the project’s vision, respects its context and surroundings, and is buildable.

8. Do you offer consultations?

Yes, I offer initial consultations where we discuss your goals, budget, and timeline. This helps determine whether we’re a good fit to work together.

9. What should I bring to our first meeting?

Any photos, inspiration images, property surveys, or floor plans you may already have are helpful. Most importantly, bring your vision — what you want your space to feel like and how you’d like to live in it.

10. How do you charge for your services?

Architectural fees are typically based on the scope of work — either as a fixed fee for smaller projects or a percentage of construction costs for larger ones. After our consultation, I’ll provide a clear proposal outlining the fee structure.
